Astrophil and Stella

Astropil and Stella feature the pairing of Karlie McKinnon and Mark “Poro” of Cleveland, Ohio’s The Lighthouse and the Whaler. The two met while performing at a venue in Salt Lake City, Utah this year. It wasn’t long before they collaborated to form the duo that is Astrophil and Stella.

The name Astrophil and Stella was inspired by the English sonnet sequence composed by Sir Philip Sidney in the 1500′s. It derives from the two Greek words, ‘aster’ (star) and ‘phil’ (lover), and the Latin word ‘stella’ meaning star. Thus Astrophil is the star lover, and Stella is his star.

They plan to release an EP this year.
